Castle Peak Relocation | Case Studies | Greenray

The client had relocated two EM610 generator sets from Hong Kong to Indonesia, in order to provide much needed power and utilise available gas on a quick turn around.

Greenray assisted in the installation, commissioning and continues to provide long term technical and operating assistance.

The Engine/Equipment

What we worked on

Two EM610 generator sets (rated at 50MWe each).

The Challenge

What we wanted to achieve

Greenray were heavily involved in the dismantle of the existing power station, located close to other operating units in Hong Kong. Whilst much of the installation was carried out by local turbine services vendors, in Indonesia, Greenray was asked to intervene once significant issues had been found during final commissioning of the control systems.

After continued delays by the local turbine service vendors, the client requested Greenray's commissioning support, and our engineers were mobilised.

The Solution

Completion and results

Upon arrival our engineers identified a number of package related issues that were impeding final commissioning, in particular, problems with gas turbine bearings and a number of fundamental control system issues. Greenray were requested to oversee the repairs at a local overhaul workshop.

The control system issues, relating to starting reliability, were rectified in parallel with the package remedial work.

Within 10 weeks of the request for support by the customer, the power plant was operational, and has been running ever since.

Greenray have returned to site on several occasions since the units were put into operation, offering further advice regarding maintenance and operation of the units to ensure they achieve the generation requirements the client requires.
